IU's policy on using computing resources for political campaigns

You may use your IU UITS computer accounts only for purposes related to the university's mission of education, research, and public service. In nearly all cases, political campaigns not related to the university fall outside the university's mission.
If you wish to arrange to use IU computing resources for political
purposes, contact the University Information Policy Office
(UIPO) via email at
uipo@iu.edu. However, you may find it
easier and less expensive to host your campaign web site on an account
from a commercial Internet service provider (ISP).
Note: Official IU Bloomington and IUPUI student organizations may use their organizational accounts to post campaign-related materials. See Computing accounts for IUB and IUPUI student organizations
Instructors and departments are allowed to post campaign-related information on IU computing resources in the course of their educational activities. For example, political science instructors may install links to Republican and Democrat presidential candidates' campaign home pages from a class home page. This is clearly an appropriate use of IU computing resources for instruction, according to the policy on Acceptable Use of IT Resources:
Use of IU computing resources is for purposes related to the university's mission of education, research, and public service. All classes of computer service user may use computing resources only for purposes related to their studies, their instruction, the discharge of their duties as employees, their official business with the university, and their other university-sanctioned activities.
