On this page:
Reserving an STC
To reserve a Student Technology Center (STC), follow the instructions below according to your campus.
Note: Due to their small size, high demand, and unsuitability as classrooms, Residential Technology Centers (RTCs) are not available for reservation.

Site reservation guidelines and practices
When planning for a reservation, observe the following guidelines:
- Only faculty and staff can request reservations. For student
groups to reserve a center, reservation requests need to be made by
faculty sponsors who are either recognized IU instructors or academic
support staff.
- Request a reservation at least three business days before you need
the lab. This provides ample notice to STC users who plan their
schedules by viewing the reservation grid at the beginning of each
week. UITS recommends that you make critical reservations much
earlier, especially when requesting specific centers.
- Processing a request can take up to one business day. Please plan
accordingly when submitting requests.
- The largest lab seats a total of 50. If you need more seats than
that, you will have to make multiple reservations for multiple labs.
Due to fire codes, classroom size cannot exceed the number of seats
provided; UITS will not provide extra chairs.
- UITS will not accept reservation requests longer than three hours,
before 8am, or after 10pm without justification.
- A 15-minute break is required between all classes. For a
single-day reservation, you cannot select a lab unless at least 15
minutes are available before and after your reservation.
-
UITS consultants are not present during classes. If you
need immediate assistance in a UITS STC during your reserved time,
call Information Commons consulting (available 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week) at 812-855-3802.
- Lab reservations are for classroom instruction
purposes. Instructors must be present.
- Reservations will be held for 15 minutes after the scheduled
starting time. If an instructor has not arrived by that time, the room
will revert to open access. Repeated failure to cancel reservations
inconveniences all lab users, students, faculty, and staff; please be
courteous.
- Please cancel reservations you do not need. To cancel a
reservation, from the STC home page, click
Make a Reservation, and then clickMy Reservations History.
- Site reservation does not control what software is installed on
the computers. If you need special software for your reservation,
you can request installation by completing the Software Request Form.
- So that unused workstations remain accessible to other users,
request a lab with a capacity as close to the class size as
possible.
- Occasionally, an STC staff member may need to enter a lab while it
is occupied by a class. Staff members will make every effort to be
discreet and minimize these interruptions. Thank you for your
understanding and cooperation in these cases.
- If you are making a request for a one-day reservation, the system
will allow you to pick the lab. However, if you are making a request
for a repeating reservation, the system does not
allow you to pick the lab. To indicate your preferred lab for a
repeating reservation, after you make your reservation, select
My Reservationsfrom the reservations menu. Select the reservation in question, and another screen will open. At the bottom of the screen, selectAsk a Questionand then enter your lab preference. That information will be added to the ticket. UITS will try to honor your preference, if possible.
- Projector codes are included with the confirmation email. If you
need a new code, for security purposes, log into the STC Reservations
Site to obtain it. From the portal page, select
Faculty or Staff, and thenView My Account/Reservations/Projector Code. ClickContinue. Or, if you are already logged into the site, you can selectMy Profilefrom theReservationsmenu.
