Non-receipt of distribution list mail

If you don't receive mail from distribution lists when other users do, verify with the list owner that your name is included correctly on the distribution list. Also, check that you have correctly specified mail forwarding on your accounts; see Forwarding your IU email

Additionally, if you use a mail filter on your account (e.g., Elm filter, MH slocal, or procmail) and you haven't specified it in your .forward file, you may not receive mail from a distribution list. Because mail can be lost during the filtering process, UITS does not recommend using a filter program.

If you are subscribed to an Indiana University LISTSERV list and you are not receiving postings, check your settings on the LISTSERV web interface. To find the URL for your campus, see Managing your LISTSERV list on the web Then:

  1. From the LISTSERV welcome page, click Subscriber's Corner.

  2. Using your IU email address and LISTSERV password, log into the LISTSERV web interface.

  3. On the Subscriber's Corner page, select the appropriate list from the menu.

  4. On the Join or Leave page, under "Acknowledgments:", make sure Receive copy of own postings is selected.

Note: The owner of the list can change this setting at any time.

Also, for LISTSERV lists, it's possible that you have been served off if you have sent 50 consecutive invalid commands to a LISTSERV server. For more, see In LISTSERV, what does it mean to be "served off" or "served out" of a list?
