If you get the message, "The computer name you specified is already in use on the network"
If you attempt to connect to the Indiana University Bloomington network and see the following error message, it means the name you have given your computer on the network matches one that already exists:
The computer name you specified is already in use on the network.
To avoid this, UITS recommends that you use your IU Network ID username as your computer's name on the network. For instructions, see In Windows, how do I change the name of my computer?
