How to request repair
To request telephone repair service at Indiana University Bloomington, call 812-855-2111. To request repair service at IUPUI, call 317-274-3004. You can call the UITS Telephone Services repair line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The UITS Telephone Services' goal is to complete all reported repairs within 24 hours (excluding weekends and holidays).From 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, the repair line is answered by the Centralized Dispatching Coordinators. After hours and on weekends and holidays, it is answered by the UITS Call Center. If you request after-hours emergency repair service, you may be billed a minimum of two hours' labor.
Your department may be deemed responsible for some types of repair; see the Non-billable repairs section below.
When you call Repair Services to report a problem, the coordinators will need the following information:
- Telephone number
- Circuit identifier
- Building name
- Street address
- Room number
- Jack identifier
- Department name
- Contact name
- Contact number
- Access hours
- Description of the problem
Non-billable repairs
Equipment leased from UITS Telephone Services will be repaired or replaced at no charge if the equipment fails during normal use. Repair situations for which your department may be held responsible include:
- The technician determines that the problem is caused by some type
of customer action or customer-owned equipment (minimum billing of one
hour at $65 plus the cost of materials required to restore service).
- Leased equipment is vandalized or stolen (the replacement cost of
the equipment plus technician time).
- The telephone jack or station wiring has been damaged (minimum
billing of one hour at $65 plus the cost of materials required to
restore service).
- Leased equipment returned on disconnect orders cannot be refurbished and reused (the replacement cost of the equipment).
Billable repairs
After-hours emergency repair service requires a minimum of two hours of labor or $315.00, and costs $157.50 for each additional hour. Service on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays requires a minimum of two hours of labor or $420.00, and afterwards is billed in 15-minute increments at $210.00 per hour.
