Switching between lines on a multi-line telephone

If you have a multi-line telephone in your office at Indiana University Bloomington, you can switch between calls on each line without disconnecting your current call. For specific information, see the appropriate section below:

Caller ID telephones

To place a call on hold and make or answer a second call

  1. Make or answer a call on one line.

  2. To make or answer a second call on another line, press the second line key. This automatically places the original call on hold.

  3. To switch to the original line, press the line key of that call. When one call is complete, press RLS.

To switch between calls

  1. Press the flashing diamond corresponding to the party with whom you want to speak.

  2. To switch to another call, press the flashing diamond corresponding to that call.

  3. When you are ready to terminate a call, press RLS.
