Financial Systems

The Financial Systems team is responsible for the analysis, development, testing, implementation, and support of enterprise-scale information systems that uphold Indiana University's goals for fiscal responsibility and excellence in financial stewardship, along with ensuring compliance with federal and state policy and regulations. The team currently consists of two sub-teams: Kuali Financial System and Ongoing Development & Support.

The Kuali Financial System sub-team is working on the implementation of the Kuali community-source financial system developed by Indiana University in collaboration with a number of other universities. The Kuali Financial System (KFS) will eventually replace all in-house developed applications managed by Financial Systems. These applications, by their key stakeholders, are:

Office of the Controller & Office of the Treasurer
Financial Information System (FIS)
Pre-Disbursement Processor (PDP)

Procurement Services
Electronic Procurement & Invoicing Center (EPIC)
Travel@IU

Office of the Treasurer
Direct Deposit Signup (DDS)
Electronic Payment Services (EPS)

The Ongoing Development & Support sub-team supports all applications that will be replaced by the KFS, in addition to the following:

  • Maintenance Management System from AssetWorks, a vended application owned by the Facilities and Capital Projects organization
  • PayBase from Bottomline, a vended application owned by Financial Management Services
  • IU-specific technical integration with vended products used by departments for electronic commerce (e.g., Nelnet's Commerce Manager)
