Making a long distance call from on campus
- Dial 9 to access an outside line.
- Dial 1 for domestic calls, or 011 for international calls.
- Dial the area code for domestic calls, or the country code (and
the city code, if required) for an international call.
- Dial the telephone number.
- Listen for a "stutter" dial tone (two short tones followed by a
long tone).
- At Indiana University Bloomington, dial your Authorization Code. Wait for your call to connect.
- At IUPUI, listen for a "Please enter your Authorization code" recording, and then dial your Authorization Code. Wait for your call to connect.
To make a toll-free call from on campus, dial 9, then 1, and then the number.
Making a long distance campus-to-campus call from an office telephone
You can dial calls between Indiana University Bloomington and IUPUI directly, using only the last five digits of the phone number (e.g., 5-1234).
For other business campus-to-campus calls, dial as you would any other long-distance number (see above). Calls made from IUB or IUPUI to any other IU campus are free; they will appear on your departmental telephone bill at a rate of $0.00 per minute. All other calls will be billed at the standard long distance rate for your campus.
