Installing Communicator Mobile

At Indiana University, you can use Communicator Mobile to access the UniCom service on your mobile device running Windows Mobile 5 or later.

To install Communicator Mobile:

  1. Download the Communicator Mobile installation file (CommunicatorMobile.msi) from Microsoft.

  2. Connect your mobile device to your computer and run the installation file. Follow the instructions to install Communicator Mobile on your device.

  3. Once the installation is complete, start Communicator Mobile on your device and choose Options.

  4. On the Account tab, enter the following information:

    • For "Sign-in address:", enter your email address.
    • For "Domain\username:", enter ads\username, replacing username with your Network ID username.
    • For "Password:", enter your Network ID passphrase.
    • Checking Remember password and Sign in as: are optional.

  5. On the General tab:

    • Check Automatically sign me in, Reconnect if network lost, and Status update off when idle.
    • Checking Group contacts by availability and Expand distribution subgroups are optional.

  6. On the Server tab:

    • For "External server name:", enter access.unicom.iu.edu:443.
    • For "Internal server name:", enter unicom.ads.iu.edu.
    • For "Connect using:", select TLS.

  7. On the Alerts tab, checking Display status alerts for tagged contacts and Display alerts when my status is Do Not Disturb are optional.

  8. Click ok and then Sign In.
