Busy Lamp Field/Direct Station Select
On a Meridian business set or mini console with add-on modules, the Busy Lamp Field and Direct Station Select features are combined onto one button, which functions both to indicate whether a particular line is in use (Busy Lamp Field) and as an auto-dial button to call that line. The button is usually labeled "Busy Lamp Field" when first installed; you may want to relabel it with the name of the person whose phone number you have assigned it to.
If your office phone service includes the Busy Lamp Field feature, a solid diamond beside the number indicates the line is in use. To call the monitored number or transfer a call to that number, press the button assigned to Direct Station Select/Busy Lamp Field.
