Color printing and graphics printers and plotters in the IUB STCs and RTCs

On this page:

Guidelines for color printing

  • Unlike low cost black-and-white printing, color printing in the Indiana University Bloomington Student Technology Centers (STCs) is a premium service and therefore is not automatically released to the printer. You must explicitly request that the job be released for printing; this allows you to review your output before you incur printing costs.

  • Color printing charges are recorded on your printing account when the output is released to the printer.

Note: To avoid unexpected charges on your bursar bill, check your IUB printing allotment or IUPUI printing allocation regularly.

  • At the end of each semester, students who have accumulated color printing charges will find an additional charge for color printing posted on their bursar account. To avoid these bursar charges, students may elect to visit the UITS Support Center and pay for their color printing before the semester ends. Non-students must have sufficient funds deposited in their printing account before they may print in color.

  • Ask the consultant to issue a print credit for any output charged against your printing account but not printed.

  • Color printing is intended for academic purposes and UITS cannot guarantee publication-quality results.

  • To reduce errors and to assure that file specifications are correct for the color printers, ask the consultant on duty for assistance.

Note: Credit is not available for unexpected but otherwise usable color output unless the output was damaged due to system malfunction.

  • To print on legal (8.5"x14") or other non-standard page sizes, bring your own paper to one of the following STC Extended Services Locations at IUB:

    • Education 2011
    • Business 415
    • Information Commons
    • Lindley Hall 026

For assistance in these facilities, ask the consultant on duty.

  • Some departments (SPEA, Geology, and several others) have their own color output devices. For information about these printers, check with the department in which they are located.

  • For information on staffing hours, see Help in the Student Technology Centers
